
Taymaz Rastin practices in the areas of commercial, construction, and regulatory dispute resolution.
Taymaz is always focused on obtaining practical solutions. His clients appreciate the foresight, creativity, and courage which he brings to bear in advancing and protecting their interests. A significant portion of his practice involves representing and advising businesses and public bodies who have been long-standing clients and who have come to trust his judgment, including in recommending other legal and professional consultants where appropriate.
Taymaz has represented clients in all levels of court in British Columbia and before various administrative tribunals. He has been involved in appeals, trials, judicial reviews, arbitrations, and applications for injunctions and other emergency relief. His professional experience has included:

- prosecuting and defending claims against engineers and architects in cases involving allegations of geotechnical, structural, building envelope, and mechanical defects, including in several complex cases concerning high-rise buildings;

- all manner of real estate disputes, including several involving the application of the Real Estate Development Marketing Act (REDMA) in new residential developments, as well as cases involving commercial leases, easements, and fraudulent conveyancing;

- representing contractors and owners in construction disputes involving delay, defective work, and improper termination;

- representing professional regulatory bodies in discipline proceedings, injunction proceedings against unauthorized practitioners, and judicial review proceedings concerning administrative decisions;

- representing individuals and companies in financial services disputes, including regulatory proceedings and negligence claims against banks, investment dealers, and insurance brokers;

- shareholder, partnership, and corporate governance disputes; and

- prosecuting and defending cases involving allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, conspiracy, and civil fraud.
